Affordability, culture, and leisure are the dominant characteristics of apartment rental in Queens. Aside from being the largest among the five boroughs of New York City, Queens is also the second-most populated borough in the Big Apple, a fact evidenced by its culturally diverse neighborhoods. Apartment hunters in Queens have the luxury of being able to experience the lifestyle and culture of other countries without leaving New York. The Astoria neighborhood in the northwest part of the borough, for instance, is considered a smaller version of Greece. In the southern part of Queens is Richmond Hill, which is probably home to the largest Guyenese population outside of the South American sovereign state of Guyana.
As if cultural diversity is not enough reason to settle in Queens, the borough is also replete with various places and establishments to satisfy one's thirst for leisure, shopping, and convenience. Shopping malls and retail stores abound in Queens, a fact that belies the suburban feel of the eastern parts of the borough. From flea markets to high-end retail establishments, Queens has all of them and more. Various trade shows also come to the area every now and then, giving bargain hunters a chance to get items they can never mind anywhere else.
